How does OwlDetect work?
OwlDetect scans unsecure and illegal websites (both on the ‘dark web’ and the open internet) to look for personal information being traded or exposed online. This information is known as ‘compromised data’ and OwlDetect keeps a record of any such information found in a database. When you enter your personal information that you'd like OwlDetect to monitor, your information is compared against compromised data that has been collected from unsecure and illegal websites for a period of more than 6 years. OwlDetect will alert you if we find a match and provide suggested next steps to take to help to protect your information going forwards.
For as long as you are a subscriber of OwlDetect, we will continue to alert you if your personal information is found compromised online and provide an action plan with suggested next steps you can use to help protect yourself.
The monitoring service is provided to us by our supplier CSIdentity Corporation who use a combination of automated scanning techniques and also have a team based in the UK who look for any information posted for sale on dark net forums. ↑ back to top ↑
What data does OwlDetect monitor?
OwlDetect allows you to monitor one of each of the following;
- National Insurance Number
- Passport Number
- Driving Licence Number
And 10 of each of the following:
- Credit and debit card details
- Bank account details
- Email addresses
- Mobile phone numbers

How much does OwlDetect cost?
OwlDetect costs £3.50 per month. Your subscription will continue on a month-to-month basis and a payment of £3.50 will be taken each month until you let us know that you’d like to cancel. ↑ back to top ↑
Which payment methods can I use?

When will my subscription fee be collected?

I no longer need OwlDetect. How do I cancel?
If you no longer want OwlDetect, you can cancel at any time. The easiest way to cancel is online by logging in here and using the online cancellation form. Is OwlDetect an App I can Download?

It’s natural to be concerned about this – and of course OwlDetect itself will advise you to be cautious about entering your personal information online!
The information you provide to OwlDetect is stored securely using industry standard security and encryption methods.
Your monitored data is not shared with anyone other than our supplier CSID for the purposes of monitoring. The information you provide to OwlDetect for monitoring is not stored on the OwlDetect website; it is transferred securely in an encrypted format to be stored on CSID’s UK based servers.

How does OwlDetect protect my data from hacker attacks?
All interaction with the OwlDetect website is carried over a secure connection.
Your account passwords are ‘hashed’ which means that they cannot be viewed even if a hacker gained access to our user database.
We perform regular security penetration tests, using external security specialists to ensure that the service provides strong protection against hacker attacks.
The information that you provide to OwlDetect for monitoring is stored securely in an external monitoring service provided by CSID.
